Steve Taylor:

What's Steve Do?
  • Steve Taylor is the Producer of Gulf Coast Mornings on NewsRadio 104.9 FM.

Steve manages to arrive every morning around 3:00am to begin getting things in order for Gulf Coast Mornings. Mostly, that consists of making strong coffee; gathering, writing, and producing the day's sportscasts; complaining about being hungry; and, basically, being a jack-of-all-trades in service to the station.

As a "Production Guru" (it says so on his business cards - really!), Steve also gathers audio for use on Gulf Coast Mornings; records and edits sound bytes for use on the air; and archives all interviews on Gulf Coast Mornings.

Steve's Short History
  • Around the age of 6, Steve found himself fascinated with weather and severe storms after a tornado swiped the neighborhood he lived in. With the constant encouragement and support of his parents, Steve began collecting various books and instruments related to weather. This fascination continues for Steve to this day.

Steve's career in broadcasting began at KMSL-FM in Magnolia, Arkansas (now known as KZHE-FM). From there, Steve has journeyed far and wide over the last 19 years in radio.

As an augmentation to his broadcast experience, Steve became a weathercaster for WDAM Television in Hattiesburg. He added nine years of weather broadcasting experience in television to an already award-winning and storied radio resume.

Today, that career continues here at NewsRadio.

Steve is married to Susan, is the proud father of seven (yep, we spit our coffee out, too!), a grandfather to three (damn - coffee's airborne again!), enjoys photography, golf, and the metaphysical science of bass guitar. He also chases any lightning storm that comes up, loves to cook, and also enjoys hitching a ride with the Hurricane Hunters from time to time.
